Vocationally qualified, Rónán Haughey is an education and skills development practitioner with 20+ years of experience working with a broad range of TVET Stakeholders across 5 continents including Governments, Skills Sector Agencies, Public and Private TVET Further and Higher Education Providers, Professional Bodies, and Employers to support the demand for sustainable solutions that enable people and communities to develop skills and enable sustainability and self-determination. Rónán has worked on Skills Development projects with 13+ Fortune 500 Companies.

Formerly European Development Manager for the leading global Skills Development body City & Guilds of London Institute, Rónán is a Steering Committee Member of The North West Regional Skills Forum – A Government of Ireland initiative to facilitate communication and engagement between education and enterprise in the identification, development and delivery of skills required on a regional basis. Rónán is a member of Learning & Development Ireland with extensive experience in European Skills Development having worked with/on Cedefop, EuropAid, Erasmus+, and European Social Fund projects and assignments.

Recognised by UNESCO-UNEVOC in 2015 as a top-10 contributor to the UNESCO-UNEVOC tVET eForum and Key Note Speaker to the IVETA World TVET Conference in Malaysia 2015, Rónán is particularly interested in The Global Skills Agenda, Skills for Work, Employability, Skills Advocacy, Innovation & Skills and Skills and Sustainability and has been published (and cited) on the theme of Innovation, Leadership and Sustainability in Skills in the peer-reviewed International Journal of Vocational Education and Training and The Journal of Asian Vocational Education & Training.

Everywhere we go, everywhere we look, everything is changing, and nothing is staying the same. Economic Power is shifting, Climate Change, Technological advancement, and Demographic changes are all megatrends that require considered, co-ordinated and swift responses.

Ireland is no different from all other nations, interconnected, its economy is evolving, its climate is changing, technology is advancing, change is happening and Ireland is responding. What can we learn from what Ireland is doing and not doing, at this time – for today and tomorrow?
